I grew up in Toronto and went to university in Montreal. This year, I’m studying Mandarin at Beijing Normal University and eating my way around the city. I love food from everywhere, but I have a very soft spot for Korean barbeque.

I too love food and I have a number of soft spots as a result. What about vegetarian restaurants???? Aren’t there any of those in Beijing?

Hey Laura! Fellow BNUer here, love the blog, I’ve followed your recommendations to a couple places now. Anyway I saw this in the Beijinger classifieds today; don’t know if you’re looking for jobs here but you’re the first person I thought of when I saw it:

Hi Alex,
It was great to see your comment pop up in my email today, since I haven’t thought about my Beijing food blog in ages. I left BJ last year and headed back to Canada for a graduate degree, though I still dream about going to cooking school in Sichuan a la Fuschia Dunlop. I hope you have a great summer, and that you do end up trying some places I wrote about..I still miss Baoyuan Jiaozi Wu and Fatty Wang’s donkey sandwiches.
